I’ve been a bit lax with updates recently, so here’s what we’ve been up to over the last few months.
Our March talk was from Rebecca Vincent, a local humanist celebrant. She told us about her work and the many interesting experiences she has had as a celebrant.
Our April talk was from Jackie Young of Environment Plymouth. Protection of the environment is a hot topic in the city at the moment, and Jackie talked to us about the success Environment Plymouth and its partners have had, along with the many remaining challenges.
At the end of the month, we had a walk around Warleigh Point nature reserve to look at the wonderful display of Bluebells there and enjoy the scenery.
Keith Denby, who is probably Devon’s longest standing humanist activist, came to speak about his work as an Independent Advisor to Devon and Cornwall Police in May. It was good to hear what a positive effect he is able to have on the way the constabulary operates.
Also in May we had one of our regular Sunday Brunches in Boston Tea Party, as well as a Book Club meeting where we discussed Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus.
