Drug policy reform in the UK - working towards a more progressive approach

Event

Date: Tuesday, 27 April 2021 19:30

Venue: Zoom

The Misuse of Drugs Act, the basis for UK drug policy, will be 50 years old this year. As more countries around the world adopt more progressive drug policies, from the legal regulation of cannabis to decriminalisation, it demonstrates how outdated UK drug laws are and how it is time for change.

Ester Kincova from the Transform Drug Policy Foundation is our speaker for April.  She’s going to talk to us about the current state of laws governing the use of drugs around the world and where we stand in the UK at the moment. She’ll also talk about Transform's work, both working towards a more enlightened approach to drugs policy and supporting pragmatic steps that can be taken to protect drug users and save lives today. She’ll also talk about the Transform's Anyone's Child campaign, which is made up of families who have been adversely negatively affected by current drug laws and campaign for their reform. Find out more about the Transform Drugs Policy Foundation here.
