April Events

We had another full month in April, starting with a conservation walk at Warleigh Point Nature Reserve. The bluebells seem a little earlier this year, and so were putting on a fantastic display, along with Wild Garlic and other spring flowers.
A few days later we had a discussion group in the Devonport Park cafe where we debated  "Is Humanism too centred on human beings?" and "What is the place for ritual in modern society?"
The month ended with our talk when Abenaa Gyamfuah-Assibey from St Luke’s spoke to us about the Compassionate City initiative within Plymouth. The focus of this initiative is on improving end of life care and our willingness to discuss the issues that arise as people's lives draw to a close. It’s an important area and it’s great to know so much effort is being invested in encouraging more openness and thought on the subject.
