Social Mobility Matters

Date: Tuesday, 22 May 2018 19:30

Venue: The B-Bar, Barbican Theatre

Social mobility, or rather the obstacles to it, is a topic of continuing concern. A “state of the nation report” last year highlighted the stark postcode lottery that exists in Britain for those who are trying to overcome the disadvantages of their upbringing and make the most of their talents.

Benny Goodman from Plymouth University will be joining us in May to talk about the current state of social mobility in the UK.  He’ll give us an overview of the current position and then move on to questions about why and if it matters. Finally, he’ll look at what can be done to address the failings of current policy.

Benny is a lecturer in Health Studies at the School of Nursing and Midwifery

This event is free and all are welcome, although we do ask for a voluntary contribution to help cover speakers' costs
