Book Club - Homo Deus

Culture Club
Date: Monday, 24 July 2017 19:00

Venue: The B-Bar, Barbican Theatre

For our next book club we’re going to discuss the issues and ideas raised in Yuval Noah Harari’s ‘Homo Deus’.  In this book he explores the projects, dreams and nightmares that will shape the twenty-first century—from overcoming death to creating artificial life, asking the fundamental questions: Where do we go from here? And how will we protect this fragile world from our own destructive powers?

It’s quite a long book, but there’s no need to read it all (or even any of it).  You can find plenty of coverage online such as this episode of the BBC’s ‘The Inquiry’ http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p050kvnz or this Intelligence Squared video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJ1yS9JIJKs

There are also some reviews you can read:

You can also check out the reviews on Goodreads.

If you’ve not been to one of our book clubs before, we’ll have at least one copy of the book on our table to help you find us.
