Hidden hunger - Food and poverty (action) in Plymouth

Dr Clare Pettinger from Plymouth University gave our February talk.  The subject was food poverty in Plymouth – what it is, and how is it being tackled.

Clare showed us what very complex issue food poverty is, with many factors impacting on those living in underprivileged communities.  One striking slide showed how life expectancy decreases as you follow the bus routes into the central parts of the city.  That means that addressing the issue is just as complex and requires a careful and thoughtful approach.  We learned about the initiatives that are taking place to try and improve the situation, and the many other approaches that need to be considered.

It was pleasing to see so many come along to hear this important talk.
