In this blog you'll find details of our past events, as well as other information about what Plymouth Humanists get up to

Sanderson Jones and the ‘Sunday Assembly’

Sanderson Jones, co-founder of the ‘The Sunday Assembly’ joined us in September to talk about ‘Atheist Churches’

September Conservation Walk

Fine weather and the approaching end of the school summer holidays meant more than the usual amount of camping on the reserve.  As a result we collected a record 42kg of rubbish, including a tent and the remains of a gazebo!

August Conservation Walk

We were pleasantly surprised to find the reserve tidier than expected for the time of year, and only a relatively modest 10kg was collected.  Given how hot it was, it was just as well we didn’t have to lug round heavy bags, but we did pick up some spectacular bonus insect bites!

Book Club – The Reluctant Fundamentalist

Our first ever Book Club meeting!  We chose the Bread and Roses on Ebrington Street as the venue, as this community run pub fits with our ethos.  Nine members turned up, and we had a thoroughly interesting discussion about the book, with some occasional meandering off topic.

Andrew Copson - Objections to Humanism

We were honoured in July to be joined by the Chief Executive of the British Humanist Association, Andrew Copson.
